Back at work!

Took yesterday off, since I was feeling right sick at the office on Tuesday and left work early.

A lot of the day, probably too much, was spend dicking around with my paladin on World of Warcraft. After a painful round of Deadmines, it's safe to say that I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH HER.

Hybrid classes in WoW are tricky things. I have a druid and shaman too, but either feel as... awkward as a pally. It's a support class - I GET that. Thing is, I want to like the class, but I don't want to be stuck feeling like I'm going insane while trying to level. I think that I can build a reasonable tank out of her if I respec and upgrade some of my gear. The problem with tanks is what do you do with them while soloing.

I tryed building my warrior as a tank - it didn't end well. At that point warriors were seriously broken and it was impossible for me as a Protection speced warrior to kill things fast enough to stay alive. So, Protection warrior became Fury warrior.

I haven't been enjoying soloing too much with my pally. I thinks the problem is she's specced Holy and I HATE healing. I may respec to Retribution or Protection. Bah.

Ok so after doing some research and talking with some people who have played as pallies, basically I was told that if you want to handle 1-handed weapons then go Protection and if you want 2-handed weapons go Retribution.

I also found a built called the "Tankadin" you can see it here.

As you can see it's mostly Protection but has a few points in retribution.

There is also this. A Holy/Protection built that is kinda a pvp build but you would be able to take a whole lot of crap of damage.

Lastly there is this. uses both Protection and retribution so lots of armour and lots of damage dealing. Kinda also a pvp build too.

In fact Retribution seems to be all pvp builts now that I think about it which is sorta strange. However pallies are hybrid so you basically have to pick a role and then decide.

So if you want to tank which you could do and if I wasn't getting so much darn lag last night maybe able to do it. I mean you were able to get those guys off of me I know warriors that can't even do that.

In the end it's really up to you. I still can't believe VC never dropped anything that kinda makes me mad, our relationship is so over. I should had filed a ticket. :P

Warriors not peeling mobs? I guess they used there taunt just to hold the mob from the beginning...

I thought the rule of thumb with warriors was to sunder and then use taunt later. Odd. Mind you, I saw the winners that usually run Deadmines with Kate last night. We had a warrior come in to tank orignally with a 2-hand sword that broke five minutes in. Oh, and he didn't sunder.

The "peeling" I think Kate is refering to is Righteous Defense, which is sorta like a warrior's Taunt, but the mechanics are a touch different. Instead of casting it on a mob, you cast it on the player being attacked.

Well there is that but I was actually referring to me running towards you and the mobs attacking you instead of me or you coming to save my behind. :P

Speaking of that, after the DM run I dinged 20 and got my "light-up-the-ground-sorta-aoe-with-high-aggro-attack", which will make it easier to dump the aggro off of you and onto me.

Yeah well I've seen some pretty bad warriors in my time playing wow. I just healed the warrior too I mean I was 26 and the warrior was 22 but still. Rach's pally was able to get the mobs off me and she was 19...

It's a shame that VC drops the Defias chest piece and not the leg piece. If that was the case, you could say "VC dropped his pants for me!" Freakin' VC. I still say that was a glitch.

Retribution is a DPSadin, but I'm wondering if that means dumping all survivalability in exchange for more damage. I do like the third build, though.

Retribution doesn't mean certain death, they can hold aggro really well. I mean I had one good DM run with a pally spec that way let's just say the warrior was off-tank. XD

However I think it all comes down to how you play, you can have the best spec and be the worst warrior in the game. I mean wasn't it Mike who said "Were level 40 and we finally know how to play our class."
