And because I have no life and feel like discussing odd stuff, here’s my history in the TTPCTS Club, part one at least.

I think I first arrived at the TTPCTS Club in February of 2001. Compared to most other fictives, mine are very different. Most characters you would see kicking around the club have important jobs either in subreality or their fictional homes and are generally… “above” normal people in many ways. I had to be different and have characters from the other end of life. Although they hailed from what could be thought of as the underground, they weren’t really evil characters, but they weren’t really amazing protagonists you could respect either. They had no fancy background and were fairly rough around the edges.

I suppose that’s why I like them so much.

The reasons were sorta complex. To understand, you need to know my history with MST3K fan fiction and fandom in general…

Part One (1996-2000): The Set-Up.

I’ve known about MST3K since 1996 when I was in grade seven. I saw a review for MST3K The Movie on TV when I stayed up late one night avoiding science homework. I thought the idea was rather cool and wanted to see the film. It was playing at the Centre Mall theaters and although I wanted to go, money at the time was insanely tight. It was around this time I had to deliver newspapers in the early morning so my family could eat. Bumming money for going to see a film was out of the question.

I finally got to see the movie the day after my grade 8 grad. Mom said I could rent a video, so we went down to the local Blockbuster. I was by total chance and pure luck I found a video copy of MST3K: The Movie. I wasn’t looking for it and sadly, I couldn’t remember the title, so I wasn’t sure of what I found. I rented it though and was very happy with my decision in the long run for finding the movie I had heard of a year back.

While I knew that MST3K : The Movie was based on a TV series, I didn’t bother to chase down the series until late 1999. At the time I looked after the school internet labs after school and found myself with a lot of spare time and a little search engine called Google.

The first thing I learned was that the series had just ended. For some reason that hurt me A LOT. I remember being very upset about missing out on the whole series. Remember that at this point in time I suffering from rather nasty teenage depression and that didn’t help at all.

I then learned that Rhino had released episodes on VHS. I spent the next few weeks searching for the tapes and finally found some in downtown Toronto. Starting then my father and I started collected MST3K videos. We had found a good amount by midway into 2000.

On the side I discovered a few pieces of MST3K fic and lots of MiSTings. Not much, but I actually learned about many characters through fic before I had a change to see them in the series. 3000: A Space Oddity was the first big fic I found and still remains one of my favorites.

At this point several odd events started happening at once. First, on a whim I decided to join the student newspaper and found myself writing a lot more than in the past. Second, I had gotten into Prisoners of Gravity. Rick Green had been my hero since I was 12 and I was totally blown away by the series.

One lunch hour I was chatting a teacher friend and we discussed what would happen if certain series met up with each other. I can’t remember all of the ones we came up with, but I recall coming up with a bizarre idea of what would happen if PoG and MST3K crossed over. I kept going on and on and the teacher suggested that I should write down this massive idea of mine.

This was the start of the unfinished crossover “Trapped In Space: In No Position to Sue”.

Not much else happened for the rest of the year. The summer of 2000 was rather cool because on Thursdays you could watch all of the recent major TV series on which Rick Green had worked. PoG came on in the mornings, Red Green aired at least 5 times a day, and Four on the Floor and History Bites aired back to back during the evenings. Fun… except for the fact that I had summer school.

That Christmas I finally had internet at home. And thus the set up for the insanity was in place.

No. There is no part two. The internet broke down two days after I got home access and I never bothered with it again.

The End.

I don't exist. My fictives don't exist. The round robins don't exist. Everything you remember since 2001 is a lie.

Blah. I'm posting part two tonight.
