I take back ALL the hopes I had for good MM fan comics from Japan. Most of the official art for the Famicom release is chibi and cute. Then I saw this. It's from the character profiles from the manual.

::frowns:: It's just... ew. One of the things that I liked from the series was that it has a slightly cartoony and silly look and feel to it. The WAFF feeling I get from the games is somehow lost in those little piccies.

Syd and Mike are waaaay too butch and look like they belong in a FPS. Jeff looks too smart for someone who is supposed be very goofy and naive. Maybe it rubbed off on Wendy. For someone who is probably the smartest of the characters, she appears pretty dazied for no good reason. Speaking of smart people, Bernard looks like Buckaroo Banzai, which might be explainable. Buckaroo's father was from Japan. Even worse, Dave looks like Donny Osmand. And why the heck does Edna look she's black? This is messed. I'm glad that Winnick and Gibert had nothing to do with this version of the game, least they have a mental breakdown from seeing what happened to their characters.

Unclean... so unclean... I've also come into ownership of some cash. The bank account had $100 more dollars than I thought it had. Turns out my mom dropped off my government check last week. The check was at least $54, all of which is my money to spend my way. Seeing that the distribution for the new MST3K DVD set is being handled by Warner instead of SMA up here, it may be easier to find this set. It's priced at less than $60 at Future Shop. Since I'm going down there to keep up a miniDV tape anyway, I might as well check for it. That would make my weekend.
