Yay! Rant time! Teh Teddog hates teh Skye Sweetnam.

These are real song lyrics:
Wake up tired, Monday mornings suck,
It's way too early to catch a bus,
Why conform without a fuss,
Daddy Daddy, no, I don't wanna go to school, woo!

I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare,
Meet Juliet or Malvolio,
Feel for once what it's like to rebel now,
I wanna break out, let's go!

Teachers treat us all like clones,
Sit up straight, take off your headphones,
I don't blame them, they get paid,
Money money, woo, lot's of money money, woo!

I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare,
Meet Juliet or Malvolio,
Feel for once what it's like to rebel now,
I wanna break out, let's go!

Get out, get out, get out, get out, woo!
Get out, get out, get out, get out!
to skip or not to skip? that is the question.
Get out, get out, get out, get out, woo!
Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out,
get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out!

I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare,
Meet Juliet or Malvolio,
Feel for once what it's like to rebel now,
I wanna break out, let's go!

I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare,
Meet Juliet or Malvolio,
Feel for once what it's like to rebel now,
I wanna break out, let's go!

Get out, get out, get out, get out, woo!
Get out, get out, get out, get out, woo!
Feel for once what it's like to rebel now,
I wanna break out, let's go!

Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out, get out!

Eh... "Billy S" by Skye Sweetnam. That's hands down the funniest pop song I've heard in a while. It's funnier is that she's apparently a uber talented singer/songwriter/director/designer and only 15.

Okay, today's world seems to want to force kids to grow up and become adults at a very young age. All we need is parents telling their kids "Look at what this Sweetnam chick has done and she's only 15". I don't want to say that talented kids shouldn't be able to explore their skills, but that crap ::points to lyrics:: isn't talent. It's the work of an spoiled kid with rich parent who let their child be exposed to many things. Talented beyond her years my ass. I can see better writing than that in a high school student newspaper or over at ff.net.

This a bunch of fangirls may say: Why don't you produce your own music if you're so good. To paraprase Commander Rick: I know I can't sing, I don't try and people are grateful. Mind you, he was a bit of a hypocrite, but we won't talk about that. :-)

I've been told that I do have some skill in other areas, but I don't feel that I'm at the top of my game. I can always improve myself. To say Sweetnam is the best of the best at 15 would be offensive, if she didn't agree to it. She needs her ego popped.

In defense of Billy Shakespeare, he was quite the rebel in many ways. I never quite looked at him in that way until an OAC (grade 13) teacher told me to read inbetween the lines. Some of Shakespeare's work is really quite funny and amusing. I wouldn't call it exactly the best of the best, but it's only English class. Remember that. The world needs more dark comedy.

I've also never understood why artists find money so offensive. We all need to eat, no matter where our talents lie. Money itself is not evil - it's just coins and printed pieces of paper that are exchanged for goods and services. It's the LOVE of money that we should avoid.

One day Skye Sweetnam will join up with Remy Shand and Enrico Gruen, forming some sort of Legion of Doom against me. I'll pay to see that.

And to those teeny boppers who have their knickers in a twist because of the Fromage 2003 special: GET A LIFE.

"Oh! You shouldn't make fun of those people," "Don't worry, we still love you (insert name of artist here)."

::bashes head in sister's desk:: Fangirls today are so... dumb. Look kiddies, your heroes are worth several million dollars. They don't need you defending them against what is basically Canada's yearly answer to Mystery Science Theater 3000. To quote the theme song to MST3K:

"Just repeat to yourself: "It's just a show,
I should really just relax"."

GAH!

Elite people must die.

Sweetnam was on Fromage, if you saw this year's special. "So you don't want to read Billy Shakespeare? How about some Cat and the Hat? Baby steps, Skye, baby steps." Even better was Ed comment on TATU's Not Gonna Get Us: "When are they going to realise that no one is chasing them?!"

Ah, Ed. He makes the pain go away. In 1999 I met the guy that plays Ed and it gave me a lot more respect for the character, but that's a story for another day.

As for being a fangirl, I'm not the kind to drool over certain characters, Syd from Manaic Mansion notwithstanding, but I don't really kick around in fandoms that feature truckloads of hot guys. I'm more interested in the plots and how the characters react to events than the physical appearence of the manflesh. I've also never cried over hurt or death characters just because I like the characters or threatened revenge on the creators/writers for either. ::pauses:: Okay, that's a bit of a lie - I was upset when they killed off the Lone Gunmen. But other than, sure, MST3K has had more than it's fair share of character deaths, but it's like real life - you move on. I can proudly say that I DIDN'T cry at the end of Sonic Adventure 2. I guess that makes me both elite and a hypocrite. ::shrugs and walks off::
