And in today's special... well... I've spent a long time digging through old Newspaper PDFs today. So, here's one that doesn't require effort: A Garfield Christmas Special from 1987. Ah, back when I was 4 and Garfield was funny. Actually, I think this special has held up better than many of the other Garfield specials, although His 9 Lives still freaks me out. Watch it if you get the chance. The comic version is apparently even stranger, replacing the God intro with a cat spirit.
Uh, back on the Christmas special, despite how Davis as run the series into the ground (it is, at its heart, a giant marketing and branding machine), there are some honestly sweet moments in this special. Not to the height of many better specials, but it's still watchable.
