Yes, it's every other day, again!

Steff and I have been camping, so here's the pack for today.
Mine, and there's quite a few because many of them have been gifted to me!
Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Steff's slightly more conservative pack for pimping

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

And today's special, keeping up with the Muppets theme, is the classic Muppet Family Christmas! From 1987! This was, bar none, one of my favorite Christmas specials as a kid, probably because I loved Fraggle Rock a ton and traveling up to the middle of nowhere for Christmas was what we used to do. My grandmother used to live in Wiarton. I also think this might be the root source of my multiverse fascination, as it shows Muppet characters from various different shows existing in the same universe. So, this can be blamed as the source of my badness.

Special note - this is the uncut version. The rights to many of the songs where licensed for TV broadcast only and so many of them where cut out of the DVD release. Doesn't help that the DVD is now painfully out of print as well. All the more reason to stream it.

Enjoy!

This is singlehandedly my absolute favourite Christmas special. XD I used to watch it every year when I was a kid and it's still my favourite. Getting to see all the muppets from Seasame Street, Fraggle Rock AND the muppet show all together is like "woah." XD Haha. I'm still so disappointed that you can't get it on DVD anymore, even if the DVD had a lot of the good songs cut out. Too bad that the later muppet Christmas specials from the last couple years can't come close. :O

I think that another thing this special has going for it is that this really is iconic of the high points that the Muppets had right before Henson passed away. I love Henson's early experimental stuff, but I'm also partial to the slightly dark but still warmhearted 1980s material. And come on, there's a slightly dark undercurrent to the special, but that's what makes it still watchable as an adult. Big Bird and the Swedish Chef is the most demented meet up EVER.

But yeah, I love stuff like The Jim Henson Hour, The Storyteller, the 1980s films. I also remember my mall having a Muppet store around that period, I think. I'm looking for info on that. I think the only special that comes close is The Muppet Christmas Carol.
