Something is very wrong here. I want to see if it's just me or something worse.

So, if you have a minute, do the following.

1) Go here - http://www.youtube.com/user/thishourhas22minutes
2) Attempt to watch a video.
3) Tell me what happens.

I'm getting a "This video is not available in your country" lock out. Normally, I wouldn't care, but... THIS IS A FREAKING CANADIAN SERIES. My tax dollars paid for this show. It's produced by a Canadian company, in Canada, for a Canadian audience. Why is it locked out to Canadians?

And for the record, the only reason I found this is because they have the Poncho Village skit up and I wanted goofy screencaps of it. But I find this sort of thing frustrating, because a lot of streaming video from other countries is locked out to Canadians. But this is a Canadian series. What gives?

I don't think it's across the board, either. The CBC stream works fine:

That's some big hair there, Mr. Harper

Screen caps from this need to be on the Liberal party website, pronto. :)

I've had it happen before and so have others, so that's not the scary part. It only pops up on channels where the stream has to be blocked due to licensing agreements, much like how you can't get other streaming sites in Canada, and it's only limited to official channels.

What's strange and confusing is that a CANADIAN series is blocked out. Either the CBC and the producers of 22 Minutes have some odd sort of agreement that the CBC has digital broadcast rights or the country blocker is broken.

(Edited for I'm tired and my writing is fail)

Well let's just hope they only do it to the extent necessary to appease the industry groups or avoid liability and not so much as to actually ruin youtube like happened with hulu.

It would be (even more) ironic though if they did this with a Made In Canada channel. but there isn't one so... well there is but it's not that. I didn't know you could edit comments. Since I don't know how, and even if I did know how I probably couldn't be bothered, if in hindsight this reply turns out to be incoherent - just read what I mean and not what I wrote.

Thanks! Looks like everyone in Canada is blocked. That's really strange. As I mentioned to someone else, it makes me wonder if the CBC bought the digital broadcast rights.
