May. 17th, 2008 10:43 amFor a long weekend, it is very cold, wet and gross.
It's supposed to be the May Two Four weekend. That's the start of summer for us! Instead, it's being quite poopy. I did have a DVD come in last night that I get to pick up this afternoon and I guess I could clean the apartment, but I'm kinda let down because I wanted to talk a walk to St. Clair this morning. It's a nice walk and I've done it in worse weather, but that was just COLD. Cold isn't bad. Damp isn't bad. Put together, they're evil.
I got off work early yesterday - I spend the morning moving furniture and boxes around the office and sorting magazines for recycling. Brought out the camera and took some pics of Toronto's Financial District. This was originally for RR/RP storyline reasons (so most of my comments are related as such), just to show what it's like on foot, but I'll post them here for anyone's curiosity, since there's a few people on here who don't live in Toronto. :P

This is Bay Street at King, looking down towards the lake. On the right, you can see the Toronto Stock Exchange, the TSX for short. There's no open trading floor on the inside now, as all trading is done electronically. However, it would still be open in 1995.
It gets kinda dark on these streets because of the buildings. How much "space" exists depends on how you look at this. I find it mostly open, but someone not accustomed to large cities would probably find it unnerving.

Small spot, looking north this time. The intersection Bay and King is notable for having four of the biggest banks in Canada at it, one on each corner.

Flaaaaaaaags! Okay, that probably wouldn't exist in the SL. I just thought it was cool.

In the middle of a lot of blocks in downtown Toronto, you get these little parks and plazas. Office workers come down here to eat lunch and socialize during the summer. Usually, that fountain and others like it would be running. I'm a bit shocked it wasn't, but it's been a cold May.

Taken in the same plaza. The PATH (series of underground tunnels full of stores and places to eat) runs under most of the Financial District. So, you get these skylights to make it appear a tiny bit less like an underground tunnel. Not that it really helps.
