I can live with my back now.

(I don't think it really smells that bad. Mostly kinda earthy.)

I DID use a clean sock.

But you fill it with dried beans or rice (Or lentils, in my case) and then microwave it. The filling ends up stinking a little bit, no matter if the sock is clean or not.
