Wedding and crap....
Jun. 2nd, 2003 02:07 amYes... the wedding...
Okay, it sucks being a bridesmaid. Really. Lisa tell us to all meet at the Rock Gardens at the RBG at 3pm. So everyone from the wedding party except Joseph, Steve and John are there BEFORE 3pm. And we wait... and wait and wait... in the pouring rain and high winds on the waterfront. This is fine for the groomsmen but we 'maids were dressed in little summer dresses. Blah. Turns out Lisa got violently ill all the way to Brampton and back. Puke everywhere. Poor girl.
So finally at 4:30 the parents of the lucky couple come to save us. See, no one in the wedding party had cars except for the 'rents. My car got over to the Stoney Creek chapel first, so I had to help Lisa with her massive train. That thing was huge! The photographers showed up at the chapel late, so we were getting photos done while we were damp and as the guests came in. The food was cold and we were the first people being served. Yuck. The head table was the biggest and youngest I've seen; 14 people ranging in age from 16 to 25.
Jody came as my 'escourt'. That was fun, but one of the bridemaids commented "you make such a CUTE couple". She was lucky that I bit my tounge. Word to the wise: Don't call a couple of outsiders 'cute'. We bloodly well now what it means and we'll floor you in response. Uh... well, I'll floor you with a punch and Jody will trip you with his braces. He can be quite violent with those things. 0_o
And no, we is not an issue, fools! I'm only 19 and he's over 30. Think about it. "Love knows no age" my butt. Yes, Lisa was 18 and Mike was 24 when they became engaged, but everyone knows that Lisa was looking for a hubby. I'm not.
I had a fun time at the dance afterward. Chris came with Katie and I hung out with all of my church/childhood friends. Yay! Chris kept commenting how "Video Killed The Radio Star" reminded him of "The Maniac Theme" from Maniac Mansion. I never noticed that before. I swear he crapped himself when I told him Sam and Max 2 was coming out next year. He wants a Maniac Mansion 3/Day of the Tentacle 2 more, though. Great minds think alike.
Lisa and Mike left early since she was feeling pukey again. We haven't heard from them since. ;-) The two are moving into the attic at Mike's parents place for now, then moving to Toronto in the fall. Everyone from the old crew is leaving. Heck, I'm moving to Thunder Bay in the fall. :-(
Afterward Chris came over and I showed him the NES and FAMICOM versions of Maniac Mansion. I just played the character themes from the first one and we played through the second one until the house went sky-high. The Japanese "bad" ending is so surreal. The characters become little angels. Chris tried kidnapping my stuffed Green Tentacle while leaving to go home. Like Katie, he wants one that looks like DOTT-era Purple Tentacle (with the cute little arms).
I've decided that when I get married, I am not having some sappy, lovely-dovely wedding. I've been to too many. Dad and I decided that the daddy/daugther dance is going to be a polka. Mom wants the song Lisa and Terry danced to, Butterfly Kisses. My reponse: "No, no, no, maybe Katie will have it at her wedding". The song makes me ill. Also on my dream playlist: The Love Theme from MST3K, progressive rock and the Jazz tunes from Offbeat Cinema.
Of course, if I'm having a wedding I need someone to get married to. I haven't worked that slight problem yet.
And today I finally played through Permanent Daylight. I so wished I made a screengrab of Dieter Kartoffelbrei's picture from the ending. That would have made for a cool LJ icon. Dieter has strangely made the list of "Teddog's favorite video game characters". Congrats. Go have a drink with Jeff from Earthbound, Tails and Rogue from the Sonic games, Syd, Bernie and the Tentacles from the Maniac Mansion games and Fox McCloud from the Star Fox and Super Smash Brothers games. I'm a sad, sad fangirl.
My one beef with Permanent Daylight is that some of the grammmer and spelling were rough. I love the intro with "Steve from South Wales" and the midi of "Live and Let Die" playing in the post office".
