It has just dawned on me that I DO have a Star Trek icon. Okay, so it wasn't what you were expecting.

Here's my half of a fic trade with [livejournal.com profile] slwatson. It plays off of the scene set in her fic Light and completely destroys it. Why? Because that, my friends, is what happens in a tourist trap. :(

I also managed to force some fluff into her Mirror Universe arc, because I am that pathetic awesome!

Title: Tourist Season
Fandom: Star Trek Mirror Universe
Pairing: .... I WROTE SLASH! It's one-sided slash.
Rating: G
Disclaimers: None of it is mine. Blah, blah, blah.
Notes: This is based off of the events both in Light (which would be the very distant past now) and Andy's little world tour in part 3 of One Minute. Not really spoilers for either, though, but won't make sense out of context.

“Now, this streetlight is believed to be a relic that dates back to the Eugenics War. Historians aren't fully sure if the streetlight was one of the common street fixtures from before the war and miraculously managed to survive to this day. Other theories claim that it was installed by locals as a memorial after the war ended. Complicating this issue is that no other local light fixtures from this era are in existence for further reference. The original lighting mechanism was replaced in.... are you even listening?”

Andy looked up from the Niagara Falls tourist guide, battered from repeatedly pulling it in and out of his winter jacket, and tossed a mock glare over at Scott. The other man looked, well, maybe a tiny bit astonished at the icy coating on the lamppost, but it was always difficult to tell. That Scott reached out and touched the ice with his bare hand, all while being mindful of the jagged icicles that protruded off at awkward angles, was as good of a reaction as any.

Andy grinned.

“When I decided to take you on a tour of the great wonders of the world, I was hoping we could get something out of it. A little bit of culture and that doesn't include those historical Burlesque houses that the man at the front desk tried to sell us on.”

There was no chuckle in reply, not that Andy fully expected one. By now, Scott's interest had moved from the lamppost to the barren treetops behind the stone wall. The misty air had clung to the branches and, over time, encased the trees in a sheet of ice. It was the same fate that many sights near the falls suffered during the winter, but the combination of the natural process of frozen build-up and the free form growth of the trees resulted in a scene much more artistic than the coated man made structures.

Digging into his other jacket pocket, Andy pulled out a small camera. It hadn't been the highest quality camera on the market, but it did it's job and did it well. Like a true tourist, Andy held the camera out in front of him, clearly aiming to get an amateurish shot of the two of them beside the iconic streetlight and in front of the raging falls.

He glanced over his shoulder. “Hey, are you going to get into the frame?”

No response. Whatever Scott was staring at, it had sucked him in.

Andy adjusted his arm, trying find an angle that could include the two of them in the shot. With their currently positioning, the only part of Scott that would even be in the picture was the man's rear end. It wasn't quite the scenery Andy had been anticipating.

This problem had to be rectified.

He strolled over to the wall, brushing up against Scott's side.

“I've just noticed how cold it is out here, with the wind and the snow,” Andy said, waiting a moment before pulling closer. It was within Scott's personal space, but just a few seconds was all Andy needed.

Scott probably sensed the other man from several feet away, but still lifted up his head and looked over.

Right on cue, Andy's arm swung out and snapped the picture.

Thaaanks! It's all part of my evil plan to rebuild the MU as a fluff land with bunnies and kittens...

... until Steff shows up at my apartment door with a shotgun.
