When your friend tell you that she's sending a pile of chocolate from the US, you pretty well believe it's going to be a big pile of candy from the US.

Big enough to justify a photo!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, [livejournal.com profile] slwatson! This is too awesome!

In there is, uh, a lot of candy. There's a massive Symphony with almonds and toffee, a massive Mr. Goodbar (massive is the only word for these, since they're bigger than a king sized bar), 65% cacao Cacao Reserve bar, 2 Take 5 bars (once again, OMGTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! After some research, I now believe Max 5 is no longer made here), a king sized Hershey's Special Dark, a king sized and a normal sized Hershey's with Almonds (my favorite American candy bar and YES, the Canadian versions don't taste the same), 2 regular Hershey's, a Hershey's Cookies n' Creme, 2 Whatchamacallits, a York Pepperment Pattie and one each of the American versions of KitKat, Rolo and Reeses.

Whatchamacallits are SO DARN GOOD.

My apartment smells like childhood and US road trips. It's amazing.

Rachelle has made me fall in love with Coffee Crisps. You two should coordinate; she mentioned something called Aeros? And I have no idea what else is up there. What're you looking for in a US chocolate?

Oooh there are a few...top of the list is the Baby Ruth bar but there are others. I'm too tired to think right now but gimme till tomorrow and I can come up with a couple of others.

Do you like Smarties? And have you ever had a Caramilk bar? I just recently found out you don't have those there...or at least, not in the Boston area since a friend of mine down there had never heard of 'em. :)

Oooh my sweet-tooth is all fired up now! Dang! ;)

We have Baby Ruth here, and I'm not huge on those. And not so sure about Smarties. But no, never Caramilk... what is it?

And take your time!

Caramilk is close to a Caramello. Different shape, though.

I need a chocolate user pic...

Oh! Speaking of rare Canadian candy, any interest in Pal-o-Mine? It's a very old fashioned bar from out east; peanut fudge dipped in dark chocolate. A bit hard to track down, but I might be able to call in a favor from the company owner at work.

It might take a bit of store searching. ;) The bar itself is a bit interesting. It's made by Ganong, which is a company that otherwise makes mostly fancy boxed chocolates. It's also one of the first, if not the original, candy bars. So, yes, very old school.

All right! I nearly forgot this...brain like a sieve these days. Still keen on doing a swap? I have a list of US bars! :D

I guess e-mail me if yer keen? No worries if you're not...I'm just a goofball about getting stuff in the mail that isn't a bill or junk flyer. :)

::pops into the thread::

From what I can tell, in the US they don't have many of the same Nestle and Cadbury bars. They have KitKat and Rolo, but those are made under license by Hershey. Um, they don't have Glosettes, but have Goobers instead. Cadbury is limited to Dairy Milk, Fruit and Nut, Dark and Almond.

They also probably don't have Maynard gummies.... um... actually, these might work well as a guide for us:
