New MST3K footage!!!
Jan. 31st, 2008 03:50 pmYes, there is new Mystery Science Theater 3000 material.
It's an extra feature on the DVD for the episode The Giant Gila Monster, which can be ordered as a single disc from Rhino or as part of the Volume 10.2 set.
From Wired:
Joel and the robots return to the Satellite of Love to demonstrate how to insert the new DVD into the original set without upsetting Godzilla or copyright lawyers. Dr. Clayton Forrester (Trace Beaulieu) and TV's Frank (Frank Conniff) lend a hand from Deep 13.
The Satellite News confirmed it and adds that Tom and Crow will have speaking roles. No explaination as to how this is going to be produced, seeing that the sets are all long gone.
If you want to grab the single disc just on it's own and are curious about the price, mine came out to $15.44 US with shipping. It NEEDS to be ordered through Rhino's site, here:
http://www.rhino.com/store/ProductDetail.lasso?Number=437116
Preorders are up now, disc ships on Feb 11th.
This single disc release was intended for the handful of people who managed to find the original version of Volume 10 before it quickly went out of print due to a copyright issue with the Godzilla film. They aren't checking to see if you own the set, so you can just buy it on it's own for cheap.
However, the single currently has a very limited print run. It might be reprinted is there's enough demand, but for right now once it's gone, it's gone and you'll have to get it in a set. The sets may also not be long for this world, as Rhino has lost the rights to Mystery Science Theater 3000 and this is their last release.
Now, back to boring storm prep. I have to finish up some annoying work that needs to get done at the office, least I get snowed in tomorrow morning. Basically, I can pull a "snow day" card and work from home if I want to. It's kinda crazy, as we have a lovely blue sky outside of my office window and yet, all I see on the weather websites is...
Winter storm warning for city of Toronto upgraded from winter storm watch
Snow heavy at times is expected across all of southern and eastern Ontario with a possibility of freezing rain and ice pellets along lakes Erie and Ontario on Friday. This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
in big scary letters. There's nothing to the west but a setting sun. o_O

Date: 2008-01-31 09:33 pm (UTC)It's proof, though, that everyone is finally on good enough terms to work together on a small project. That's a lot better from the stories a while back, which more or less claimed that there was going to be no more MST3K material ever because of grudges.
This has been a miracle year for MST3K in terms of what's coming out and it's only January. More can happen. On a scary note, I had joked about this a while back to a friend. It seems that fandom things come in waves. After I got Genesis tickets and got to meet Rick Green, I commented that "With my luck, something big is going to happen with another fandom next. I hope it's MST3K."
