The Days After....
Aug. 27th, 2007 11:06 amI am sooooo far behind on Prisoners of Gravity stuff. Laura suggested over the weekend that I buy Signal Loss a domain name. SignalLoss.com is open, but so is PrisonersofGravity.ca and .org. The latter two are more direct.
Fan Expo was.... uh... interesting. Sorry I didn't visit you,
pyat. I couldn't find you and the staff was not helpful in the slightest.
I did get to meet some nifty people here and there. And there was shopping - I got myself a Yuki plushie and a 2001 t-shirt, although I found it was hard to locate anything sci-fi related that interested me. The problem is that my interests run in funny circles and nobody likes to admit that they like cheesey stuff unless that cheese is currently in fashion. That and I like books. :-\
In WoW news, we now have an official hang out for our Horde characters - "Kodo Lodge" over on the realm Moon Guard. Look us up if you're over there and bored. I have a little orc hunter on there, but I might focus on my extremely silly blood elf mage because being a hunter again means doing the exact same things for 60 more levels. I normally HATE blood elves, but... eh... this one is special in the same way my human priest is special and TBC starting areas are fun to level in.
More Warcraft/Wrath of the Lich King stuff has been released.
Highlights:
- Pre-WotLK, the "final" raid (thus far) for Burning Crusade is going to be the Sunwell Plateau, which is probably going to be a another step in the "Merry Misadventures of Kael'thas Sunstrider" plot.
- Death Knight class will be unlockable in the 55-60 level range. People will still whine.
- There will be more Caverns of Time instances, with one announced based on the Culling of Stratholme campaign. I perdict that it will be like normal Stratholme mixed with Escape from Durnholde; you escort Arthas and he kills a dragon who claims to have a role in the plot but doesn't at all. Sadly, you will not be able to moon Kel'Thuzad this time.
- Malygos will be a raid encounter. I want to see him that jester outfit from The-Novel-That-Must-Not-Be-Named.
- Naxxramas Take Two: Electric Boogaloo is going to be the first 25 man raid.
- Inscription still seems extremely strange.

Date: 2007-08-27 03:41 pm (UTC)I think I saw you scurrying along the edge of the Artist Alley at one point.
I don't think I'd attend this con as just a normal con-goer, unless I had a lot of friends going. I prefer smaller "relaxacons."

Date: 2007-08-27 04:05 pm (UTC)I was scurrying around for two reasons. 1) I was trying to catch Ty Templeton in the Artist Alley, but was having NO luck with that. We chatted before through email and he invited me to stop by if we were at the same con, but think I could find him? 2) I left the con to get some cash from Union and then lost the rest of TWiG group and spend two hours shopping/searching for them! D: (and I STILL could not find the second half of Kate's birthday present!)
There really wasn't much there for a normal con-goer, or as normal as I am. If I wasn't helping with interviews on the Saturday, I would have been bored out of my skull. A lot of events felt like they were based around celebrity culture and if I don't buy into celebrity culture on a pop culture level, I'm not going to buy into it on a geek level (which often breaks down into "I am a geek and we made you famous, so you OWE us" and is countered by "That's nice, $50 for a photo"). If there's anyone remotely famous that I have an interest in, it's because I deeply respect their work as a student of media who wishes to aspire to greater things. George Romero would probably fall into that catagory, because I still think that Night of the Living Dead is a damn fine horror movie.

Date: 2007-08-28 02:30 pm (UTC)On a side note, I think they mentioned SOMEWHERE that the next Legendary is going to be a ranged weapon. Frostmourne: The Gunblade. 0_0
Goblins in the Marsh - I'd run it if it worked like Tranquillien (best quest hub ever). That would finally explain the few goblins that are in the marsh already.
I don't mind having the flying mounts "nerfed" until 78. We have our epic land mounts, so it's really no big deal.
