Maybe people whine about their childhood disappearing, but I'm struggling to locate media from 5 years ago!

I went over to EB Games today and grabbed their last copy of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. It's a game that has an awkward place in my heart. I loved Sonic growing up, but for some stupid reason decided in high school that it was one of those "childish" things that I had to set aside.

Does every fan make that mistake?

I was really curious about Sonic Adventure when it was released, but I was poor and couldn't afford to even dream of a Dreamcast. When I hit university, I cashed in a savings bond my grandmother had in my name and rented a Gamecube and Sonic Adventure 2. It was the first new Sonic game I played in years, since I didn't touch anything after Sonic and Knuckles. It's not the perfect game and it's hamfisted storytelling is quite laughable at times. The walker levels? Sucked. Shadow? Sucked. I never quite got the bouncing between light hearted humour and dark drama, and if I hear Shadow going "MARIA!" one more time, I'm going to shoot something.

This all said, I was able to overlook a lot of it. I liked Rouge, which is saying something, and while the plot was lacking somewhat, it was amusing enough, usually in spite of itself. It's probably the last decent console Sonic game, unless you count bits of Sonic Heroes.

Also got the Warcraft III collection. I wanted just Reign of Chaos on it's own - this is my first RTS game and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it. However, all I could find was either the big box or just the expansion one it's own. Anywho, I'm actually enjoying it a fair bit, although I'm really not that far in yet. The Mortar Teams crack me up.

I played Sonic Adventure. It was a good game as in gameplay but the dubbing and story was horrendous. To me it reminds me of Mega Man Legend (which was a surprisingly good 3D Mega Man game) when they were beginning to milk that sucker for all it was worth.

I actually like Sonic Adventure. :(

But, I'll agree that most of the dubbing was bad, but I still liked Dr. Robotnik's voice. He was the only decent one out of the whole group. It's a shame that the voice actor passed away several years back, which caused Sega to hire a completely new voice cast. Sadly, it was the group that dubbed the Sonic X cartoon and they managed to be even worse than the ones before!

Oh man... the plot. "Look at the cute little chao things... OMG THEY'RE ALL DEAD!". Sonic Adventure 2 doesn't fair much better. You have a black hedgehog angsting over a teenage girl who was collateral damage in a military raid and you get to learn about Dr. Robotnik's grandfather, who was killed for crimes against the state. FUN!
