I went home from church with Terry today in the Geo. We stopped off to look at our new fancy pants church building and headed home late.
So. To talk about certain Hamilton streets for a moment, we were coming down Main up to Gage. It's a four lane stretch of road and we were in the center left lane. The far left lane of the street was blocked by a U-HAUL trailer, so anyone wanting to turn left had to do so from the center left clane.
Sadly, nobody noticed this until they were right up to the lights, resulting in a quick stop for people coming up to the turn. The people in front of us stopped in time. We stopped in time. The asshat behind us didn't.
I'll be forever thankful that Terry managed to turn his wheels to the left. Because of his quick thinking, we managed to walk away from the accident - our car was struck from behind and were thrown into the sidewalk on the left hand side of the street, but we came to a rest on our own and didn't hit anything or anyone. I have no question that if he didn't do that, I would be at least in hospital now, if not worse - it would have caused a chain reaction crash with at least 3 other cars. I was also thankfully wearing my seatbelt, something which I've been known to be lazy about. 0_0
I'm pretty sure I'm okay. I'm dazed and sore, but in one piece. Terry needs to get the Geo looked at, but right now the only known major damage is that the rad is shot.
HOWEVER, the asshat who crashed into us? Before we even stopped, he was racing away. Please excuse me, as I'm going to be hating humanity for the rest of today.
