Is it just me or do Phoenix Wright cases tend to get really ODD towards the end? The end of Rise From The Ashes was more than a little strange. I understand that the highlight of the games is the simply amazing writing, but I can't help but be truly creeped out at Rise From The Ashes. It's simply the route that the plot takes... and the conversation between the judge and the main antagonist right before the sentencing just sends chills down my spine.

Also, mostly directed at Kate, but I'm looking through Court Records but I can't seem to find a date as to when the court system is overhauled in the Phoenix Wright universe. I swear it's mentioned in the first game, because I remember Phoenix giving a bit of a brief history about why the trials are so darn short - It's usually limited from three days from arrest to sentencing and a lot of cases involve the death penalty. All I know is it has to be before 2012. The site does mention that the English version is intended to be set in Los Angeles, so that answers that question.

AWWWW! These are so darn cute!

I cleared case 5.

I don't know about it being so different. It's not like case 1 or 3, but is sorta a mix between case 2 and 4 with the deep coverups, only unlike those, the "villains" in case 5 are not purely acting for their own gain (see: Redd, April, Yanni and Karma). Lana is clearly working to protect her sister, which latter leads to an emotional breakdown of sorts because of a conflict of interests. There's also the fact that Lana doesn't get off in the end because of the amount of damage she caused to the justice system in this time period.

There's also the matter of the Skyes and the Feys. Phoenix compares them early on and the game wants you to think they're one and the same. However, it become apparent that they are NOT clones. Take Mia and Lana. Both wanted to protect their younger sisters and tossed away their futures to do it, but Lana goes a much shader route than Mia. Which is funny, because while Lana gets a second chance at life at the end of case 5, Mia ends up losing her life, despite the fact that she's arguably the "better person".

Although, Mia pulls an Obi-Wan and killing her only made her stronger, so this is a bit of a moot point.
