German opening to the 1990s X-Men cartoon. It mixes the animation with live action kids.

Those were just too great! I can't imagine why they spliced in live-action to the X-Men cartoon. Did they do that during the show, you think? It just reeked on early '90's, though!

I don't think they spliced live-action in outside of the opening. It's probably just a localization, like how anime series sometimes have new openings for broadcast in North America. The episodes are probably the same, except the cartoon is dubbed over in German.

And speaking of anime, X-Men did have new openings created for the Japanese broadcast too. They look and feel like anime openings, probably to appeal to that market:

Just don't show Steff those. It's bad enough that Rich is pulling a harem comedy in the form of the X-Wives. XP

Those aren't too bad at all. Granted, they've got very anime-esque cinemetography, but the characters haven't been completely animed out. It's cool to see how things are different from place to place. :-)

The songs in the Japanese versions kill me, though. "Cry for the MOON!" ::dies::

"SHOCK"

I actually miss that series. I was watching a lot of anime at the time and that series was one few american ones that still held my interest.

Definitely the Japanese version have same art direction but much more anime action to them.

X-Men was probably my favorite out of the Maverl cartoons on Fox Kids. It was toned down from the original material, but it's not like I noticed. I've been told it's in some sort of legal limbo at the moment, so there's little hope for a full DVD release anytime soon.

Did you ever see the earlier and later X-Men cartoons? They're pretty strange.
