Sep. 26th, 2006 03:14 pmIs anyone here familiar with banking accounts and how accounts are handled after they're closed? See, my sister closed her CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) account several months ago and switched to RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). She personally closed the account down before switching.
So... why do we have a collection agency after her for $200 that was withdrawn a couple of weeks ago from an account that was both empty and shouldn't exist?
We had a problem like this before, when TD Canada Trust refused to close my father's accounts after he died. Kinda hard for a person to claim they're a widow when a bank lists their partner as "alive". Ugh. I dread paying back my student loans more than ever now.
On another rant, "naming rights" to stadiums are lame. Whenever I go to the Toronto waterfront, I'm reminded that we lost the name "Skydome" to "Rogers Centre". WTF is that? And the new Exhibition Stadium is going to be named "BMO Field". BMO is a bit more fun to say than Rogers (which is nothing more than a penis extension for Ted Rogers), but it looks ugly in print. Also doesn't help that they demoed the old Sports Hall of Fame for the new stadium.
Also, while it's kinda cool to be getting a new Exhibition Stadium, why are we even getting a new Exhibition Stadium? I realise that it's for soccer, but the soccer season lasts April - November. The reason why Skydome was built was because Toronto's spring and fall has a rep for being shitty, so an outdoor stadium on the waterfront? Not smart. Apparently, the new stadium is going to have an "inflatable bubble dome" to avoid this problem. Sadly, I don't think they've thought about what an eyesore that's going to be.
