Jul. 20th, 2006 12:15 pmFor those who heard about the issues with the cards at work, that's been cleared up now. Surprise, surprise, the cards were in the office the whole time. I understand that when a security card goes missing and someone has just been let go, you're going to assume that the now unemployed person took it. However, the way they treated be was pretty damn rude.
Other than that, it's been hits and misses lately. Been tossing out some more resumes. If worst comes to worst, I'm going to grab some minimum wage job until I can get back on my feet and am able to use that piece of paper of mine. Heck, I'll even deliver newspapers again. I'm back at home at the moment, but I'm supporting the household in part now, so the rent isn't exactly free.
Mike and Lisa had to can coming down to Palmyra. Sucky. They went last weekend and did cconfirm the presence of salt potatoes at the hill. The protestors are back again, but from the sounds of it, there's a bit more crowd control this year. Last year they were screaming, yelling and hocking horns continuously, even during our prayer. Know them by their works indeed.
I'm a bit worried that because with Mike and Lisa not going, several people from church are looking for a free ride with us to Palmyra. It's hard to explain to them that we don't do the normal thing. My mother and Terry have been visiting for over 20 years and just don't care to visit the historical sites anymore. Instead, we visit the Chill n Grill and the beach.
Add to this that several of the people wanting to go are minors travelling with their grandmother. Years ago, this wouldn't be a problem, but crossing the border now with kids is tricky. We used to carry a copy of my father's death certificate to prove my mother was a single parent travelling with her six kids. Oh, and I should mention that one of these grandkids gets very car sick. When we were driving her home from camp earlier this month, we had to pull over several times within the first 5 minutes of driving for her to toss her cookies. Finally, I stormed into Mac's and bought her some Gravol. She started feeling better, but then felt into a deep sleep. This could cause even more headaches at the border. Drugged kid? That's going to look real good at customs.
This grandmother really needs to think this over. We might have 2 other people coming, but they're close friend of my sister and of at least legal age.
