Well, THAT problem is solved.
Jun. 29th, 2006 11:30 amOkay... figured out WTF was up with my Amazon account. It's wacky.
Somehow, through some glitch in the system, I have 2 Amazon accounts on the same email address. Yes, *two*. How is happened is beyond me, but the customer service people found it.
Anyway, on my break I figured out how to access that odd second account, cancelled the order and filed it with Chapters/Indigo instead. It's costing me about $8 more, but it ships within 24 hours and not in 5 - 8 weeks and I perfer the Canadian book beast most of the time, so I could care less. My pay was higher than I thought too, so meh. Hopefully, that means comics on Monday and then I'm caught up for a few more months. Last book for Chrono Crusade is in that order, along with the English translation of the FMA perfect guidebook.
I *think* I'm caught up. Wait. Except for Eva 7. I can grab that whenever, since I skipped it. But I managed to snag FMA 8 earlier. Read or Die 3 is also out, but that's not super-duper important. Heaven knows when Monster 3 will show up. Dang.
Need to find a used book store in Hamilton that takes manga, or else the library is getting a donation. Anyone want a complete three volume run of Scrapped Princess? It's the English version. It's okay, but not really keepable for me, I can't push it off onto my sisters for some reason and it's eating up shelf space. It's disjointed in that the first volume reads like a collection of short stories and the other two volumes have, like, a long story each. So, if anyone wants her, make an offer.
I have plans on getting the DVD recorder this weekend too, but then the spending WILL stop. I have managed to save an insane amount of cash lately, but that's what I get for living at home. Maybe I'll buy random people on the flist LJ booze again.
Minor grumbling:
Okay. So, OSAP. Government funded college loans in the province of Ontario. I know many, many schools make their students pay a deferral fee because you don't get your loan until the fall. I used to pay $100 at Confederation, plus $250 for the dorm, which was fine and I had no issues with. Typically, I used my CPP.
HOWEVER, in Hamilton the local college is making students pay a $400 deferral fee. Note that this is Hamilton and it's been guessed that 89% of the students require OSAP. Katie mentioned there was even a gag bumper sticker you could get that said "My paycheck is going to my kid's deferral fee", instead of the typical "My paycheck is going to my kid's tution".
So, if you have a poor city where a large chunk of the population can't afford school on their normal income, why are you making them pay $400 before that stupid loan comes in? That's $800 for our household! That's more than our food and hydro for a month!
Thankfully, mom's forcing them to be like me and use their CPP for the deferral fee. Crappy part is that CPP is only $200 a month each, so guess who's loaning the sisters $400 so they can go to college? Oh, I'm getting my money back, but they are so my slaves until next CPP check. They better stand praying that July 28th comes on swift wings.

Date: 2006-06-30 12:51 pm (UTC)I can see Larxene reading Marquis de Sade because she's basically Organization XIII's resident sadist and likes causing pain and suffering; I think it's providing her with a sort of violent fantasy. Kinda like the stereotype of women reading romance novels, only... it's Larxene. It could also be that because they can feel some emotion, but it needs to be an extreme amount for them to pick up on even just a little bit.
Damnit, now I want to buy Chain of Memoriesno subject
