teddog: (Stop - Grammer Time!)

Language is an awkward thing. Well, more like kooky. I have a passing interest in it in general, mostly as a side to my interests in communications. Yeah, language is a part of it, although not all of it.

It should be known that I try to make sense of French packaging on my bus rides to and from work. What's "digital" in French? Numérique. It makes more sense than it should, when you break the word down. That's about the only way I can understand French; the process of deconstructing the word. I don't "get" broad generalizations.

Although, my boss mentioned there's reseach that claims you can, in theory, recall the languages your parents and grandparents spoke through the structure of the brain. It's a very out there idea and potentially means, depending on how far back you go, there is the chance that all languages are "unlockable" and that there could be one original mother language that all modern languages came from. However, I doubt it would take into account the evolution of languages and words. Chornobyl is a fun one. Originally means "mugwort". Now means "Big smoking radioactive hole in the ground". It's only been 20 years! Imagine how many years of twisted language there is in human history.

And to reward you for sitting through the ramble, BIG SCARY NORTH KOREAN ABANDONED HOTEL!!!!
