So.... now what?
Apr. 7th, 2006 11:30 pmThe final episode of Red Green aired in Canada tonight, ending a rather strange but fun 15 season adventure for some of us (::waves hand::) It's crazy to think that 15 years ago, that series started on the local station in Hamilton. So much of that series still screams "OMG! I R HAMILTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA!!1!"
Best part? Vague spoiler: side mirror. I crapped myself laughing at the old reference. It's so old school!
Some parts of the ending were odd, such as...
Bill Smith's ending. He ends up giving up the adventuring life to run away with a female nurse. That's all fine and good, except that Bill was married until at least season 13. That's the last time a wife was clearly mentioned, during the Hindsight special. During the build up to the ending, Red mentions that Bill doesn't have a family. Uh. The most I can figure is that he divorced his wife or she died and his kids have all grown up. Assuming that the youngest was at least 11 or older during season 5 (she's mentioned having braces in the first book), the kids are probably all grown up by now. That leaves the wife as something kinda lost in the background.
Oh, and KB has a not-quite character death. That makes Rachie sad.
That being said, the rest of the endings were cute. The Dalton one was about time. Winston and Mike's were great to see them move up in the world. Ed's was... unexpected. Harold's you have to see for yourself. And Hap... got mentioned. HA! Aside from the heavy handed "It's time to move on" message, it was a pretty solid episode. I'm going to miss the little Hamilton series that could.
... so when's this animated spin-off coming?
