Sundays totally burn me out.
I'm on the cast for Follies, which is the res running around and acting like idiots... uh, actually, it's a strange set of performance numbers strung together for the heck of it. It's the PWP of Con College. Most of the numbers are show tunes. The range is from modern shows to ye old ones. For example, the number Anne leads is from Mamma Mia and I lead a song from The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan. Speaking of which, Anne's number cracks me up because it reminds me of Nance soooo much. Katie even agrees with me on this. It's depressing that there's an ABBA song I can now stand because of this. We even tossed it on the Never Ending Soundtrack Project.
We never claimed to be sane. I'm cast and kinda crew; my crew position is "people wrangler". My job is to track people and make sure everyone is where they need to be. Apparently, I'm a scary person when it comes to barking out orders, so people listen to me the first time before I get pissed.
If I have to do the Moulin Rouge dance numbers from today again within the next week, someone is going to die a painful death. Hindi Sad Diamonds is a massive pain in the tail. It's a fun number to do, but so tiring. And then I got picked as a main weight carrier for Sparking Diamonds. I don't blame them, because I've got a fair amount upper body strength, but it SCARES me. Sarah falls back at one point and there's a second or two where myself and... the one girl who's name I can't remember have to catch her and hold her. We break the fall, basically. Since we're catching her midfall, that's a lot of force and weight to support. After the few seconds, Becky, Andy and Mandy are there to support her upper half and Tash and Doris cover the legs, but I'm worried something before that.
Thank goodness this is a one-shot deal, unlike Haunted Hike. :P But I wonder if the people watching are going to notice that the cast is mostly just the res geeks who have too much spare time. Speaking of which, next Sunday's rehearsal is my number (with Mandy and Tash) and Mason's number, which includes Steve and Matt.
Side note: Twilight by ELO is the cheesy song on my playlist at the moment and I can't get enough of it.
