Riddle me this one, Batman:

Beliefs are a social construct. We are taught that our beliefs seem solid, but can be shifted with enough time and effort.

Gender is also a social construct. The parts, well, we're born with those. But how we see ourselves and place ourselves as sexual beings, that is a social construct. Therefore, you can't be born straight, gay, bi or otherwise. You are born sexless and gain your gender over time, expending on what you're exposed to in culture. In theory, you could make a straight person gay, a gay person bi, a bisexual person asexual and so on.

But this doesn't make sense, as humans needed to reproduce long before they have had the mental capabilities for social constructs. Therefore there needs to be some sort of mental imprinting on... "how to screw", to put it lightly, which means that gender might not be a complete social construct.

And this is why pop culture class gives me a headache.
