Aug. 8th, 2005 03:27 pmHey! The W3C validator changed!
Yes, I'm a geek and only I would notice that.
I've been thinking of starting to collect Red Green DVDs. You know, when I have money again and I'm caught up on all my comics/manga. Except Hellsing, cause I have to keep that joke running. So far I only have one DVD: the Canadian release of Duct Tape Forever. There's several others that have been released, but a lot of them I'm iffy on. Why? Two words: Clip Specials.
Oddly enough, The Best of Red Green isn't on DVD yet. Which is a shame because I heard that the bumper segements with Red and Harold were cute. There's was also a VHS featuring parenting-related skits. If anything, HOPEFULLY Acorn might release those to DVD soon. But then, Acorn is on crack. The Stuffed and Mounted VHS cover art feature season two photos and NONE of the tapes include season two episodes. >:(
Duct Tape Virtuoso Deluxe
This was the first DVD, released back in 2001. Mostly just Handyman Corner skits. It's probably the thinest of the DVDs has far as content is concerned. There's only about an hour of material.
Stuffed and Mounted Six Pack
ME WANTIE! ME WANTIE BAD! 48 episodes across 6 disks. The only downside is if they start with the season sets, I'm screwed. But, if this goes out of print and there's no season sets, I'm also screwed. But... The Tanks We Get is included!
It's a Wonderful Red Green Christmas
I have this on VHS and love it. Easily my favorite of all the holiday specials, probably because it was from very early in the CBC years and takes place before the big changes went through. The DVD also includes It’s a Merry Red Green Christmas, which I think was the one where they go curling with frozen turkeys. That alone is worth the sticker price. 0_0 I think I may buy this one as a birthday present to myself. :P
Red Green's Hindsight Is 20-20
This special is kinda scary. I explained this to Tas, but it bears repeating. I RP several Red Green characters as secondary characters from time to time. When I came up with backstories in 2003, I ended up going beyond the profiles released at the time. Most notably, I included the Smith and Smith skits. Soooo, I figured "This is my personal fanon and has no bearing on canon". Until this special came along and 99% of the things I guessed at were confirmed as canon. The DVD has "66 minutes of extended clips", but I'll be darned if I know what those are.
Red Green's We Can't Help It, We're Men
Me thinks this is a re-release of an older VHS Clip special. It also includes "Red Green's Of Cars and Men", which was a really old-ish VHS release from back when I was in middle school. I remember seeing it at Music World. And there's "A half hour of additional Red Green segments". Again, I wish they would explain it more.
Not a lot of DVDs, huh? Well, like anime and MST3K, these will set me back a far bit. Unless you buy through S&S, you have to import the suckers. Such is life, and fandom, I suppose.
