Part, uh... I can't remember!

Here's today's dragons!

Mine!
Adopt one today! Named "Gracefully Pirated" by Steff, because that's what I did to get it.

Steff's Unholy Army!
Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

And in today's special... well... I've spent a long time digging through old Newspaper PDFs today. So, here's one that doesn't require effort: A Garfield Christmas Special from 1987. Ah, back when I was 4 and Garfield was funny. Actually, I think this special has held up better than many of the other Garfield specials, although His 9 Lives still freaks me out. Watch it if you get the chance. The comic version is apparently even stranger, replacing the God intro with a cat spirit.

Uh, back on the Christmas special, despite how Davis as run the series into the ground (it is, at its heart, a giant marketing and branding machine), there are some honestly sweet moments in this special. Not to the height of many better specials, but it's still watchable.

Today I taught myself how to cook tonkatsu! Now my apartment smells!

Okay, as for the topic, I'm going through scans of old Globe and Mail issues, coming across the movie listings since I'm often pacing through the Entertainment section. One thing that is to be expected and yet stands out are listings for movies that have vanished from the face of the Earth or at least in our society's collective mind.

And it's kinda funny, seeing these films with rave reviews, compared to what we'd consider greats of film history, and yet I've never heard of these before. Granted, there are some films that I do know and have seen - War of the Roses, Born on the Fourth of July and things like that - but they seem so much less interesting than these mystery films. Films that were seen in shoebox theaters and probably never made it to video, let alone DVD.

Even as a media geek, I must admit that I don't feel the need to protect them, since they probably suck or at least of questionable quality. At the same time, I'm kinda humbled. On the upside, at least the movie ads make for interesting studies.

I've been working on Signal Loss today. If you're a PoG fan, here's the things to note...

There are more articles here:

Mostly from the Globe and Mail. They're scans because I lack the typing skills to type them out. However, if you're into the whole "How was TVO in the 1990s?" sort of thing, you should find the articles more than interesting. It pains me that we had an outlet that interesting, only to be lost in government cutbacks. And crazy spending, apparently.

The video page as also been updated, but this is nothing new. It's just listing the episodes on the site.

The downside is that the gallery is now offline. I... blew it up. On accident, I swear. I was uploading two full page ads for TVOntario and it nuked. SO. Due to the size of the galleries, I'm right now in the very long process of downloading the images for reuploading and attempting to see if I can grab the text somehow. After that, I'm settling down to a long evening of reinstalling the gallery and reuploading. And because I'm painfully lazy, I'm so getting in a pizza to eat, because I really don't want to cook in the middle of this.

UGH.

Gallery is fixed! Even though I download the images and comments, turns out I didn't need them. I just needed to tweak the databases. o.O
