Today is the day...
Jul. 6th, 2007 12:20 pmI have finally raised enough money for the first and last payments on a bachelor apartment in
urufudo's building!
Which means that any money after this can go towards buying apartment stuff or general savings. Saving money is, let's face it, HARD. I grew up in a poor family, so having any money makes me a touch spending happy. :\
However, it looks like I'll be still saving most of my pay for the time being. I need... uh... EVERYTHING. The only things I own for the apartment are a couple of bookshelves (which I'll need more of), a rice cooker and some cloth grocery bags. If living at home doesn't drive me COMPLETELY insane, there's a few fluffy things I wouldn't mind picking up.
My word, it's like collecting for college all over again!
On fluffy things, I'm not sure if I want to sink money into a gaming system. The thing is, I have lots of Gamecube games, because all of the reissued Sonic games came out on the Cube (I'll have to grab Sonic Adventure 2 Battle now that I think about it... maybe Heroes too), but both the Wii and Cube play them. I don't really have much interest in new home console games, just the DS, so I don't know if coughing out the cash for a Wii would be a smart idea or if I should just pick up a used Cube for cheap and outfit it with four nice controllers and a large memory card. Or maybe I can just kidnap
urufudo's Cube. Wii games are waaaaay too much at the moment, anyway. Most decent games are $70 a pop here. I could get a used Cube for that.
Just to make things more complex, I don't even own a TV anymore, but I should probably look into getting one of THOSE first. I have a DVD recorder and plans to grab a new VCR with my next pay (need it for PoG dumping like WHOA), so a TV? Probably a sound idea.
And a microwave. Does anyone know a cheap brand that doesn't suck? I've been told that most microwaves for under $100 burn out within a few months.
You know, maybe I should just sit down and write out a LIST. I already have a loose budget worked out, because I am anal like that. Still not sure about Rogers (Ewww) or Bell (puke) for my phone/interwebs. I'll have to buy a modem for that too! YIKES.
Okay, this is much more complex than moving to a dorm!
