teddog: (We interrupt this program to annoy you..)
I'm looking for comic and novel recs right now. I've been poking around with some of Tokyopop's light novel translations, but I fear that I'm reading too much trash with these. I really liked the Slayers and Kino No Tabi novels and Scrapped Princess is fun for a bit of a fantasy romp, but I'm reading one of the Trinity Blood books right now and something doesn't sit quite well with me. I think it's the "gothic and dark but very pedestrian" flavour of the book. Thankfully, it lacks that awful piecemeal feel that the anime series had. Able in the anime was the unholy fusion of Vash the Stampede, Alucard and possibly Commander Rick. o___O

In terms of lit, I want to read something darker, but also something OLDER. For example, something akin to Tim Burton's work in the late 80s and early 90s; slightly dark but with a playful side of sorts. There's something about media with a darker edge from that era that's decidedly different from what you can find being produced now.

Kate, I think you need to see this...

Yes, Sega is dragging out NiGHTS licence again... for the first time as a sequel, though. Now, if this fares better than the new generation Sonic games, I'll be impressed. Apparently Sonic The Hedgehog (AKA Sonic Next, Sonic 2006) bombed hard. No surprises here.

In other news.... I really don't know. I'm at my wits end with Jen's stupid boyfriend, yet I'm supposed to be buying her some sort of birthday present. Yeah, that's lovely. I got cut out of movies last night due to that stupid jerk - I refuse to go on a "Family Night" to the movies when they're clearly using it as an excuse to go on a date. URGGH!

Ah, man. I... like... need food NOW.

A hot dog from a street vendor sounds REALLY tempting right nows.

Interesting note: The changes in light throughout the day effect my view of the islands in the harbour. Sometimes the islands appear to be a five minute swim. Right now, though, they look rather distant.
