Went to a hockey game with Terry tonight. Leafs against the Penguins. Lots of great fun, except that the Leafs lost their early lead to a tie at the last possible second - 4 seconds to go at the end of the last period.
Then... the scary thing happened... The announcement was made about the overtime and suddenly... nothing happened. Nothing that we could see on the ice, at least, and the screens remained on the "Leafs vs Penguins" image with no overtime info. Suddenly, my uncle points out a section of the expensive seats in the lower bowl and to the right of us was being flooded with security and emptied out. Our first thoughts were that a fight broke out and people were getting kicked out, until we saw doctors rushing to the scene.
While the news appears to be lightly describing the event, things got really bad with people who was suffering what I assume was a heart attack. She/he took a long time to respond to the resuscitation and the paramedics had to put out a lot of effort to get that response. I can't understand how everyone was able to stand and gawk at the scene - it was too much for me to bear after a minute and I had to look away. It appeared at one point that some of the Penguins players had formed a prayer circle on the ice, but afterwards both teams were trying to calm everyone down by posing for photographs on the ice.
Still sorta shaken by the event, even with the great game, Leafs winning, the fun fist fights, Terry pointing out the Hall of Famers taken their kids to the game, etc.
