teddog: (Trumpy you can do stupid things!)
Bleh. I'm a bad, bad person. I spent money that I shouldn't have, but after seeing the current prices for the MST3K episode "The Beginning of the End" online being so high... and then noticing that a Canadian website had the disk at a fair, normal price... yeah, I jumped on the sucker.

TBotE DVD is in line to become the next Movie DVD, meaning that fans will up over $60 for a copy. Ugh. I ended up downloading a rip of the movie, since there was no way I'd paid over 50 bucks for a used rental copy. I have my VHS that I bought twice (my first copy degraded because I watched it so much), so I feel entitled to that. However, I already have TBotE on VSH, which means I double dipped. I'm bad, so sue me. :P

This tosses me in the "no spending spare change" group for a while with Tas, which means a lack of capusle toys for the next month or so. I got an out of print DVD from it, so I can't really complain too much.

No trip to London, Ontario this weekend for me because of medical issues. I am, as they say, not happy about that. But, that does finally open up Signal Loss time finally. And RP time with the Steff, which we've missed as of late. I wonder if Katie will let me use her scanner. :-\
teddog: (You say so much...)
Man, people suck. You hear about the 401 today?

Quick info on the 401 from Wiki:
The 401 is widely considered to be North America's busiest highway, with an estimated Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of over 425,000 in 2004, between the Weston Road and Highway 400 interchanges. This surpasses the Santa Monica Freeway in Los Angeles, and several Interstate freeways in Houston, Texas. Due to its triple use as the main trade, commuting and recreational corridor in Ontario, 24-hour traffic volumes can exceed the 500,000 level on some days. The just-in-time inventory systems of the highly integrated auto industry in Michigan and Ontario have made the highway the busiest truck route in North America. Highway 401 also includes the continent's busiest multi-structure bridge at Hogg's Hollow in Toronto (four structures for the highway's four roadway beds).

The Highway 400 interchange? All but shut down this afternoon. An accident took a 7 (8?) lane highway down to 1 lane during RUSH HOUR. The traffic was at a stand still in the Express lanes all the way back to Dixie Road. The collectors were slightly better, because those people have brains.

Apparently, two motorcyclists were racing on the 401 until one of them smashed into the back of a tractor trailer. I understand that accidents happen, but racing on the 401 across the backside of Toronto and not seeing a truck takes a special sense of logic or lack there of. It's like that MST3K short... "Never wave while driving. Never look backwards while driving forwards. Never under any circumstances drive with your butt cheeks."

At least I got to practice my map reading skills to get us around the jam to end all jams.
