Feb. 28th, 2006 10:50 amDo yourself a favour and never eat at Sake. It's a Japanese place out on Steels and not only is the food shit, but I've been feeling sick after eating there. ::shivers:: I don't know if it's because of the food not settling right or worse, but I feel like poop. I blame that awful ramen. If you want sushi or Japanese in general in the GTA, do yourself a massive favour and go to Crispy Roll on Queen. Delightful place, wonderful service. They also don't treat you like garbage because you're white. >_<
The high point of last night's adventure? Oh my f'ing gosh, we found a capsule toy/gashapon store. You know places with capsule toys that line the walls? They look like the one here. Well, Pacific Mall has one!
It's like a dream come freakin' true for me. I love capsule toys from the bottom of my heart. When I was a young kid we were fairly poor, so I never got "big" toys from a store after a shopping trip. Instead, I got something from the 25 cent candy and toy machines. It's become an addiction. I still visit the big new ones that Tomy has put out in the malls; a recent favorite was the Winnie The Pooh animal keychain things. But, Japan has always had fancy-pants capsule toys. I've wanted to try them and then WE FOUND THEM HERE. Smaller capsules go for $2 and the larger ones go for $4. Don't think that's a deal? We saw these keychains for $4 there. Sure, it's random what you get, but that's the fun!
After locating the store, I bought half my weight in FMA figures. Well, it was really only $14 worth at $2 each, but they are my little army of cute. This is the complete set. Out of those, I got Al (top row, middle), Ed having a spaz attack, Winry, Riza, Armstrong (left to right across the second row) and Roy (bottom row, left). I ended up with a double of Winry and gave it to Laura. Kinda sad I didn't get a Havoc, but the Riza makes it all better. You can't really tell from the photo, but she's looking rather smug about herself and Hayate (the puppy) looks like he's about to cry. It's a scene pretty much lifted from the short comic "Dog of the Military". The store also has a machine for series 2 of the figures (Piccie!), also $2. I didn't try that one yet, but the only figure I don't care for is Envy (I have bad memories of anime!Envy and the fandom that follows him) and although Winry in military dress isn't comic canon, she looks adorable.
Thankfully, I have my "home" internet back, so I can finally download that History Bites special.
