teddog: (Happy!)
Strange and frightening stories from the heart of Canada.

GO Train Victim comes back from the dead.
GO Trains are a form of public transportation in southern Ontario. Therefore you can call the train stops "Go Stops". That aside, it's kinda cool that someone got to pull a Tom Sawyer at his own funeral.

Hahaha... CanWest got BURNED!
Although they own the local station in Hamilton, I dislike CanWest Global. I have a nasty history with relations to the company (*coughuniversitycough*), so to see them suffer amuses me. National Post also sucks. Go read the Globe and Mail instead, although that paper is owned by Bell Globemedia.

And topping the scary list, I've ordered my birthday presents for myself. Heehee... I'm so lame. I decided to get that two-disk MST3K dvd and the MST3K episode guide! I've wanted that guide since 1999! I decided, "You know, that book is really going to go out of print soon", so I broke down and grabbed it from Amazon. Thankfully, I loved seasons 2-6 (from what I've seen of them), so it's $20 well spent.

If anyone is looking for something to buy me (Katie, Jen, Mom, etc) for my 21st, I'd REALLY REALLY REALLY like The MST3K Collection Volume 2. It has Pod People in it, which remains one of my most favorite episodes of all time. Trumpy really is magic. :-D
teddog: (Why yes... (D'Nerd))
Really, it is.

First I discovered that everyone's favorite online MST3K guide, Sloe Gin Circus, is still around! Huzzah!

Second, I discovered that Shaw hooked up my cable when I wasn't around and never told me. I now have TV!

Third, I FINALLY was able to get an internet connection through OS9. I still don't know exact why is wasn't working before, but I tweaked a few things and now I have access.

The reason that's so important is that OSX can't read my RCA input with the video card I have, nor do I have any software to play the TV signal if I could. In OS9, I can be online and watch TV at the same time, which happens to be my favorite way to waste time. MST3K + Neopets = Fun way to waste a few hours.

Plus, because my computer is a slow, old beast, it runs a lot better in OS9.

Now, if only I wasn't so sick, today would be perfect. :-P

I'll admit something - last spring I got someone into MST3K who probably shouldn't have been exposed: a high schooler who, at the time, I didn't know was borderline violently obsessive.

I met the kid again today and he went fanboy on me. Normally I don't have trouble with kids like this. I too was a nasty and rude n00b at one point; blame it on the awkward teenager phase. Hanging around in fan fic communities, you see it a lot.

The kid started spewing out facts (the history of Gizmonics, etc) and told me to check out the Satellite News. I politely told him that I've been visiting the site since 1999 and help run a fan fic site, so I'm well schooled in the subject.

Then, out of the blue, he started the taboo arguement. Yeah, that's right, he wanted to have a "Joel versuses Mike" debate.

If only you could have seen my face.

Okay MiSTies, what's the golden rule in MST3K communities? We don't fight over which host is better. It's the Topic That Shall Not Be Named. There's a whole page on it in the offical FAQ!

Anywho, Fanboy decided to start his rant with discussing how Joel was "whipped" by Forrester and was whimp because he never tried to escape. I explained that there were a few fan theories on why this was (if you're a MST3K slasher and you know it, raise your hand), but it boiled down to the fact that Joel was probably happier in the SOL than on Earth. Fanboy then suggested that if Joel was such a good inventor, than why was he a janitor for the Gizmonics Institute. Before I had to handle that question, another person near us said the famous line from the opening "It's just show; I should really should relax".

Thank goodness. o_O

And for the record, I like both Mike and Joel equally. I only have strong opinions when it comes to the Mads. I liked Clayton Forrester a lot more than Pearl, but then that's just me and I have a thing for mad scientist. Observer was pretty cool in the Sci-Fi era, though. ^_^
