teddog: (Why yes...)
I finished A Graveyard For Lunatics today. It's been a long time since I've read anything by Ray Bradbury and since he's one of my favorite authors, I figured I might as well start again now.

The book was good, even though the ending was rather so-so. Because it's a mystery novel, towards the end of the novel we get a dozen pages of the characters explaining their motives. Some of it is interesting, but a lot of it is just repeating what the reader should have picked up on earlier. I had one half of the plot figured out mid-way through the book, but I must admit that I let my guard down and missed the second half.

One small part that amused me was that the main character admits to storing candy bars in the fridge. Up until now, I thought that I was the only person to think of doing that.

Dang it, I could go for a cold chocolate bar right now.

Plushie!

Interesting point of the day: Possible new animal discovered in the US. Is it a possible terrorist also? YOU be the judge.

Go away heatwave... come again another day. We're supposed to get a thunderstorm this afternoon, but I don't see that happening. Hopefully in the evening.

The heat has gotten so bad that my brother Taylor got sick at the dentist. He was fine before we left, but walking up to the building he started throwing up on the sidewalk. It's bad, folks...

I finally managed to get a wocky plushie at McDonalds after that, and yes, I bought it on its own and not in a happy meal. Like heck I'm going to eat McDonalds food! It's a brown wocky too, which makes me very happy.

It was very sad in the van after I got it.
Me: (playing with the wocky's fluffy tail) I have a wocky!
Mom: You'll only be happy until the next Neopet you want comes out.
Me: Mom, this IS the exact plushie I've wanted since the happy meal toys first came out.
Mom: Good. Thank goodness that's over.
Me: (not paying attention to mom's last comment) Wocky...wocky...wocky...

It came with a bearog card, which is just freaky, since I own a brown wocky with a bearog petpet.

As for the rest of the plushies I have gotten, I like the lupe, but Katie has suggested that we should use the JubJubs to throw at each other because JubJubs are evil and look like tennis balls with feet anyway. This shall be our new game for the week.

The area around Hamilton seems to be having an issue since I came back.

Houses are randomly exploding.

The last one happened today only about 6 blocks away from my house. It happened while I was out with mom and Taylor in the morning, so we didn't find out until later. This is about the third house to blow up and nobody seems to know if the three crimes are connected. The second one was rumoured to be related to the mob, but who knows. ::shurg::

Mom said that when she went to the school to pick up Spencer, there were several police cars patrolling the area around the school and a good number of teachers were watching over the playground.

The heavy rains haven't arrived yet. We're getting some light rain right now, but the big thunderstorms and wind and hail are still coming. :-/
