Sometimes... I feel guilty.

Everything at school seems so simple most of the time. Like programming. I have no issue visualising ActionScript in my head. Then the rest of the class pisses and moans about how it's the teacher's fault that they don't understand anything. But, at the same time, everything makes perfect sense to me.

What am I supposed to tell people? "The teacher sucks because you don't understand it"? "You suck because you don't understand it"? "Stay late and I'll help you understand"?

I hear people bad-mouthing Dean. What am I supposed to say to that? Let's see, this year Dean has:
1) Helped supported me through a personal crisis.
2) Helps me with homesickness because I can talk about the GTA with him.
3) Given me his book lists from university courses to I can study media theories in my personal time.
4) Listens to my ideas about advanced learning theories with me when nobody else will.
5) Is backing me in risky personal project.

Okay, this puts me in a very awkward place. What would YOU do if the rest of the class wants him fired?

Being different is annoying.

He seems like a right good guy, and to be honest it seems like your classmates are either A)expecting the knowledge to fall into their lap, B)aren't putting extra out-of-class time into studying the subject, so that they can understand in-class, or maybe C)actually having trouble for whatever reason, but they're too proud to ask for extra help.

Either way, this teacher obviously cares, so whatever problems they're having are their problems, and if they can't solve them maturely, they're pathetic.

The option you put up, to offer to help others may help, but it might rub some the wrong way. They can suck it. ^^

Stand up for what you believe to be true, young one, and all shall fall into its proper place. *nods sagely*

It's a case of (A) with bad attitudes thrown in. It's programming and you can't expect to learn and understand everything at the start, which throws people off. I can pick it up pretty well, but programming is almost lucid with me.

I already offer friends help with projects, but I have had issues in the past where my code has been stolen by nasty peoples. A whole wad of a calander build went missing during first semester. It was an older, incomplete build, but it still sucked that someone would steal it. So now I'm careful now with who I help so I don't get burned.

I'm not that young... *whines* Lil' Teddog wants her programming software and a lolipop! WHHHAAAA!

I don't hate Dean... he can be a bit of a jerk sometimes, off-handedly, but he's always been nice and stuff. I think it's really stupid when the class just starts complaining that because they don't get it, it must be the teacher's fault. They should just sit down and try to learn it on their own for once.

I don't understand what to do for the calculator assignment, but that's because I'm not a very logical thinker at all... while grasping basic actionscript is easy for me, when values come into play, I get kind of confused. ^^; I'm more of a designer than a programmer, you know? Math has always been my weakest subject and I think it always will be. But I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow.

"Rest of the class" is a bit of an overstatement, I'll have to admit. Sorries. However, after Friday (AKA the day the shit hit the fan) I'm really starting to question everyone. If you didn't hear what happened, Dean had us rough out programming code on paper for the whole length of class. Apparently this didn't sit well with the rest of the class, because it was the waste of an hour. I didn't have the heart to tell people that I had already been roughing out the code on paper since Tuesday. That's how Rockwell thought me to program back in university.

You're lucky you decided to stay at home that day. We joke about Kyle cracking and going on a killing spree, but odds are that I'm going to lose it first. Next person who brings up Macs vs PCs is getting a head first trip through a window! I am ENFP! I demand happy bliss in my program! HAZZAH!

And if you're hanging around after class, I can help you with the ActionScript programming. I know I pick it up easier than I should, so I try to share when I can. It's not TOO hard. Easier than the JavaScript cookie assignment, although it actually builds on it. Date objects and all. :-)

Math and programming have nothing to do with other. Programming is more like... hmmm... being given a riddle/puzzle and told to answer it in another language.
