Oct. 13th, 2004 11:09 pmYou know what's scarier than Grimace the McDonalds mascot? The original Grimace with four arms, not just two. I saw an image of that today and HOLY CRAP I'M GOING TO BE HAVING NIGHTMARES! *rocking in a corner* Evil... purple... milkshake... monsters...
I like Portal. I didn't like that stupid kid... Michael or whatever? I wanted to take that brat and smack him against a wall. The first episode on the tape also didn't sit well with me, but then potty humour isn't my thing, although talking to trees may be. The rest of the show was okay, cause I got the end of a story arc. *gasp*.
Maybe it was the episodes I saw, but Dave appears a lot more clean-cut than I imagined him. Compared to the other satellite dwellers (Joel, Mike, Rick), he seems to carry himself in a very different matter... I dunno. Why was Dave in the Hub to begin with? The last episode of the series mentioned he was the father to a chosen one or something. I think that the last eppy on the tape was the last in the series.
Which throws back to the discussion that 'Hacker and I were having a month ago. After seeing how the show works, yeah, Dave appears to "gifted" in his world hopping powers and I doubt that other people at random have them. He reminds me a lot of Zak McKracken from the LucasArts game Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, in that Dave's abilities are innate but he probably doesn't know the full extent of them. Unless there's more plot I don't know about.
Me still thinks that Nance could whip Val's butt. Val seemed a little of a pushover except in the last two episodes. Again, I really haven't seen enough episodes to judge.

Date: 2004-10-15 02:22 am (UTC)*snaps her fingers* That's it! Dave carries himself differently because of the stress he's under! It kinda maybe sense, because Joel, Mike and Rick didn't have that same sort of stress. They didn't live with the knowledge that their friends were living on borrowed time.
Would you happen to know wheter Rick said that Dave was or wasn't human? I could never quite catch what he said.
*pops in tape*
"You never told me you were human, Dave." That's what I heard. "Were" sounds a little like "Weren't" because of Rick's accent. Soooo... since Davie-boy can hop around and stuff, me thinks that Rick didn't realize that Dave's true form is human and only learned it when they switched bodies. Rick's comments may also mean that Dave kept his true identity hidden to protect himself.
On the other hand, Dave appears to need electrical shocks to maintain a stable form. Was this ever explained? The most I can figure is that the virtual worlds have electrical systems as their main source of energy and because Dave has hopped around so much, he now also needs surges of energy to survive in the real world because his body is conditioned to live in the virtual worlds.
