teddogI got so sick last night.
I'll be darned if I know exactly what happened. The nurse from the dental clinic phoned yesterday morning and told mom that I might not feel 100% for a while after having the surgery. I wasn't doing too bad on the Wednesday, other than still feeling the sedative in my system and no strength in my left arm because of the IV.
And Thursday morning wasn't too bad either. I'm supposed to take my painkillers every 4 hours, but I missed my doseage at 8am. I woke up at 10 with a slightly sore jaw, but no real harm was done. Then... something happened.
I've been trying to rework "normal" foods back into my diet at a slow pace. The surgeon told me that the day after surgery I could progress to a "normal diet" at whatever speed I wanted and my jaw could tolerate. I usually bounce back from things like this rather quickly, so I decided to have a very small piece of fish along with the usual soft foods I've been eating.
I was feeling a little icky, so I took my painkillers and my usual breathing meds and had a nap. This is what I had in me:
3 Tylenol 2 tablets (prescribed by dental surgeon).
3 Ibuprofen capsules (also prescribed by dental surgeon).
1 montelukast sodium tablet (long term prescription by family doctor).
Leftover sedative from the day before that doesn't want to leave (!).
I also rinsed my mouth out with salt water (as prescribed by dental surgeon).
This was at about 10 pm. Katiers woke me up at around midnight because she wanted to ask me about something related to Kingdom Hearts. I got up and something hit me like a ton of bricks. It was a combination of nausea, gas, pain, dizziness and shaking. I was so sick that I couldn't get back to sleep until 6am and, although I was supposed to take more painkillers every 4 hours, I'm still not well enough to shallow anything solid.
I'm starting to think that the whole pile of crap was a really nasty drug reaction. I'm usually pretty good at watching drug interactions, but this came out of nowhere. If I'm not any better in a day, I'm getting my butt to a clinic.
