I have read "I, Robot". I like "I, Robot" a lot.
Judging from the trailers, that... THING of a movie is NOT "I, Robot"! It looks and feels like "Blade Runner: The Next Generation". I like Blade Runner, but early cyberpunk is not the same as early robotics stories. What in the world are these Hollywood guys trying to do?!? "Suggested by the classic short story collection by Isaac Asimov" my foot!
If they wanted a crime drama based on Asimov's works, why didn't they look at something like "Caves of Steel".
GAH! It all makes me feel very upset that one of my favorite books gets trashed like this. This is why I hate modern media. "I, Robot" would work much better as a TV series than as a movie because it's a SHORT STORY COLLECTION, not a novel.

Date: 2004-04-15 12:51 pm (UTC)The plot (from the released details) reminds me of Asimov's novel The Naked Sun (The "can a robot murder a person within the 3 laws?" idea and such) and I wouldn't mind seeing an updated version of that onscreen. But if they were going to explore the series of novels that "The Naked Sun" is about, why are they naming it after a completely different story collection?
