Today's "WTF?!?" moment.
Feb. 18th, 2004 08:28 amThis was passed down to me through a chain of people, apparently starting with Neil Gaiman, who brought this all to light.
Yeah.... THAT Neil Gaiman.
Okay, in a move that worries me greatly, the US Department of Education has decided that over 200 television programs are inappropriate for closed-caption funding.
Samples of inappropriate programs:
Bewitched
I Dream of Jeannie
Lizzie McGuire
The Simpsons
What's New Scooby-Doo?
Wisconsin Public Television Sports
You get the idea. OH NOS! THE DEAF MUST BE PROTECTED FROM THE CHEESEHEADS!
What a load of CRAP! This panel has no right to proclaim what programming is safe for deaf people to watch. Why is the US treating these people as second class citizens? This is as low and dirty as the report that claimed Canada was a threat to the United State because we had a right to freedom of speech.
Of course, the truth is much more strange then anything I can write, so read the whole article on Gaiman's page. CLICKIE!
