Does anyone ever think about that and what it could mean, other than a running gag? He isn't a super dark villian. I can't really see him going out of his way to murder Joel. The two almost have a relationship of sorts.
Honestly? I think Clay kinda gets the short end of the stick because he's the only villain for the best eras of MST3K. Now, I don't even classify him as a villain myself, more like the guy whose so completely out there that he's never managed to successfully do anything in his life. Even not taking the plot concept too seriously, Dr. F's more of a goof than a badguy. He brings Frank back basically because Frank's the only one who'll put up with him.
I don't think people care for Pearl, either. I sure don't. I like Mary Jo, but Pearl; she just got on my nerves sooo bad. I'm a hardcore CC era MSTie and proud of it.
