Canon dates (not shipping, you foo's)

teddogCanon gives me a headache.
I'm trying to figure out canon dates for Time and Time Again. I know Zak McKracken and The Alien Mindbenders is set in 1997, but there's no clear info for the Maniac Mansion games except for Hoagie's end of the story in DOTT. That's apparently set in 1790. If I was to believe Dr. Fred's logic, that means the present day part of DOTT is set in 1990 and the events detailed in the original Maniac Mansion happened in 1985. But what if Fred's theory wasn't correct?

I wish I didn't put so much effort into fic and instead just wrote porn and fluffy stories. I think I'm going to go write a MiST to cool down.
