I won't kid you when I say many parts of the Maniac Mansion fandom royally piss me off. However, there are days were I can only sit back, smile and think about how wonderful it is to be a part of it.

Today is one of those days.

I've just found the German fan film "Die Drei ??? und das Gruene Tentakel", which basically means "The Three ??? and The Green Tentacle", at least according to Google. From what I can tell, the tone of the film also follows the games faithfully, quickly changing from creepy to goofy and to just plain bizarre. Because the film is in German, I can't make out much of the plot, but the visual gags are parodies of scenes from the games and work in any language.

Click here to download the movie. It's a big file (over 20 mb) and you'll need the Div-X codec installed to play it.

The best scene out of the lot is probably the "Live and Let Die" musical sequence. That's one way to knock the power out. I don't know exactly why, but I burst out laughing during that scene. I think it's a combo of the music, the fades into and out of the different shots and the final payoff. Everything about it is wrong on so many different levels.

The cameo appearence by Dave, Syd and Bernard is a howl too. According to the opening, they'd be in their late 30s at least. Dave looks like Ben from Full Throttle. :-D

Stop whining. Just find another
boyfriend, I'm sure he'll be just as good as your last one.

Huh?

I think you've posted at the wrong place, unless I've made an unusually bad typo. My bitterness comes from the fan community for reasons I won't expand on here, but in short: stupid people annoy me.

BTW, the last boyfriend I had I dumped very violently. It doesn't depress me at all. In fact, I tend to look down at girls who get in a rut because "the one" got away.

Is this movie about the Day of the Tentacle? You mentioned 3 people, and one of those people in the game were named Bernard. Just asking.

You're pretty close.

The movie is a crossover of "Die Drei ???", the German version of "The Three Investigators" and Maniac Mansion, which is the prequel to Day of the Tentacle. The full name for DOTT is actually "Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle".

Some of the past events hinted at in Day of the Tentacle, such as the death of Weird Ed's first hamster in a microwave, occured during Maniac Mansion. The Bernard in both games in the same guy, although in DOTT he's five years older and a bit more mature.

Hoagie wasn't introduced until Day of the Tentacle, so everybody's favorite roadie didn't appear in Manaic Mansion. Neither did Laverne, for that matter.
