Mystery Solved!
Sep. 1st, 2003 09:20 pmI've wondered if the was a story difference between the floppy and CD versions of DOTT. I now know there is, slighty.
In the cutscene where Bernard finds the super battery plans, a brief part of the scene is cut out.
The versions are the same until after Dr. Fred says "My ingenious super-battery design, please." In the CD version, Fred takes the plans from Bernard, glances at them brief and then stuffs them into the time machine/toilet.
In the floppy version, Fred looks at the plans and we get some extra dialogue(as follows):
Dr. Fred: Drat! This will never work! I forgot, I never quite got these proportions correct.
Bernard: Maybe I can help. I got an "A" in physics class.
Not much, but it reflects both characters' personalities well. It does raise the question of "what is Bernard's field of study at college?" The canon is not very clear, but I thought that it was most likely that he studied physics as a major (taking into account his profile in the first game). I guess not. More things to work out for my fanfic. :-)
We also get to see the battery plans themselves. The battery is actually called "Edison's Super Salad Battery" and it runs on croutons and lettuce as well as the vinegar, gold and oil that you have to find later in the game. Cool stuff.
