Shoes again, barf!
Dec. 18th, 2008 08:37 amI ended up buying a pair last night. Heavy snow has been forecast for the rest of the week so... I didn't have a choice.
That said, the crazy sales are on now and I can only imagine what boxing day sales will be like. I got a $150 pair of boots, that were marked down to $130 on the floor and came up as $100 at the cash. I am not complaining.
They're a pair of Merrells, what I usually avoid because they're on the high end of shoes and I'm cheap. So, I'm going to see if that extra money helps in terms of how long they last. My last pair was $40 and lasted 2 months. By that logic, if these last 5 months they would have paid for themselves.
I rather like them. They're fully waterproofed already, are nice looking in terms of the cut and are functional, having solid ankle support, a nice sole and a solid upper. No canvas and they're a total joy to walk in. The only letdown is that they didn't have them in brown, only in gray. However, they did have my size. I'm in the women's 10-11 range and most stores stop at 9. Thus, shoe shopping is an exercise in disappointment.
Posted pics to compare the two. The old pair is a million times worse than it appears in the photo. The shoe clerk commented that they looked old and didn't believe me that they were two months old.
Old, stupid pair of shoes:

My awesome pair of Merrells:

I'm not shopping at Payless in hopes of saving a few bucks again.
