Ewwwwwww! Freakin' Astroturf.

Okay, I have nasty opinions that not everyone agrees with. Rachie no like trans fats for various reasons. I'm all for regulations on them in the consumer market.

Then, I found this lovely piece of entertainment:
http://www.trans-fatfacts.com/

From "The Center for Consumer Freedom", so you know this is going to be FUNNY.

They're actually trying to suggest that the rise in life expectancy is connected to trans fats. However, they can't state it outright so there's a lot of "dodging" that statement.

Then you also get fun "Facts" like:
"Fact: Low-fat diets lower levels of HDL—the so-called "good cholesterol"—much more than diets high in trans fats."
Eat a lot of our stuff and you can prevent heart disease!

But then, they also mention:
"But eating foods high in trans fats on a regular basis may adversely affect your cholesterol levels, which most doctors advise against."
We're not sure what effect trans fats have! Wheee!

There's also claims that trans fat can fight cancer by proxy... or something. o_O

(And yes, I realize this makes me biased, like the examples that Lisa was firing off last weekend. However, trans fat levels are a touchy and personal subject with me. I cannot see any reason to put them in food other than to keep food costs down, which results in a two-tier food system, were the poor are forced to live on a substandard product that may be hurting their health. I know it hurts my health, at least.)
