It's the week of death! Ah!
Jul. 13th, 2006 09:29 amIn a way, I like this week, but I don't too.
I've been coming home really late, about 11pm most night, yet I still have to wake up at 6am to get ready for work. So little sleep!
Monday, I stayed in town to hang out with Laura after work. All fine and good. Tuesday, mom collected my sorry butt from the office and we went up to Wonderland for the afternoon. That was alright, except I got soaked on the white water rafting ride and frozen my butt off on the way home. And then, yesterday, I got picked up at Kipling and went to my Grandfather's to visit. We didn't leave until after ten. Yep. Long days.
Part of my problem is my last week of work is the same week as mom's vacation. Yeah, I'm not getting a new contract. Once I am free from this employement, I will reveal the sorted tale. It'll make you wonder about your tax dollars and where they go. They went to my DVD recorder and book collection! It is rather messy, as the people I've told already know and understand. Again, rather not discuss at the moment.
On the up side, mom and I discussed some things last night, and we decided that the cross border shopping is going to start a touch early, kinda. Thing is that we have no grocery shopping time at home this weekend, so we're going to stop at Tops near Military Road on our way back from Ohio. Yay for Tops Markets. I'm so getting a Bonuscard, just for the sake of owning something so pointless for free.
Issue is I have to withdraw my money for the next two weekends tonight, since I offered to shell out for food if I can get Mighty Taco for lunch on Sunday. It really sucks that American and Canadian debit systems aren't interlinked, so it's cash or credit only. Gotta make a stop at the CIBC at the mall tonight before 7 and pick up some crap while I'm out.
I missed a change to grab Sonic Advance 3 on Monday, so I'm thinking of picking up the Sonic Double Pack. It includes Sonic Pinball Party, which is amazing; that game as a standalone cart was released only at Target in North America... and there's no Targets in Canada. It also happens to be a decent pinball game. Sonic Advance, while not the most complex or challenging game (*cough*Spinball*coughs*Blaze'sSideofRush*coughs*DamnSonic2forGameGear*cough*), it's tons of fun. And I don't own either, so that means that only Advance 2 and 3 are left. Funny thing is I bought Sonic Battle on a whim about 2 years ago and it turns out to be the rarest game out of the handhelds. After that is Advance 2, but ebay will fix that.
Also, I could reeeeeally go for a watermelon slushie right now.

Date: 2006-07-13 03:09 pm (UTC)Huh? I'm pretty sure I paid debit for stuff in NYC and San Francisco this year. Almost positive, in fact.
(Sucks about the contract...) :(

"Beginning in 2004, IDP purchases could also be made in the United States at merchants on the NYCE network."
Even stranger. o_O Apparently, the US has something like Interac, but only certain banks are on certain networks and the networks the store has access to varies. I'm a little bit wary, because I looked over the list of places with NYCE (http://www.nyce.net/consumers/crossborderdebit/retailer_list.html) and while grocery stores are not an issue, I've noticed a quite a few gas station chains we tend to favor that don't use NYCE, like Flying J. It's good to now know it's there if we need it, but I'd rather had carry cash incase we can't find a debit terminal.
Side note: There's a business called "Kum & Go" and nobody down there has complained about how dirty that sounds? :D
