OMG.

THAT. WAS. AWESOME. The episode we got to see is key to the season 15 plot! Yes, there is a plot this season! Since the episode was in the middle of the plot, we got an explaination to the previous events. As Lisa put it, "We've got massive spoilers for season 15!" There's a friends-locked post with plot details to be posted right after this one. This post is SPOILER FREE.

AHHHHHHH! Most fangirly night ever! When fandoms fly fast and loose on the ride there, you know you're in for an insane evening. The station wagon was renamed the "Possum Wagon" and most of us were massive Prisoners of Gravity fans. :D

For those wondering how the tapings are working this season, this is how it works:

First, we entered the lobby and Mike got our tickets, Mine was ticket 123! There was a small booth set up with goodies, some of which were new to me, like the Bill Smith bobblehead. CREEPY AS HECK and this coming from someone who loves Rick Green! He looks like Jay Leno. Anywho, the toys and all were really over priced; the DVD I wanted was $32! Heh, I'm just going to order it on Amazon for $25. XP Jen wanted a "1991-2005" golf shirt, so I picked it up for her. $30. Yikes. It's cute, though.

We waited in line and Mike got a clothes pin, which means he got picked to join in on the lodge meeting. Jen and I freaked out on him as a joke.

They let us into the studio around 8:45. The staff took us into the studio in small groups. We walked around to the front of the set and the seating area. Now, I saw the original Possum Lodge set years, but it was still exciting! They had the main lodge, basement (lodge meeting), crafts corner and Red's desk sets up. There were also monitors around, for a use we'd understand later. We were in the front row of the left set of bleachers

The crew did a little intro with the basic rules, then Steve Smith came out and welcomed us. He explained that we were a professional audience: "Audiences laugh at things that are funny. Professional audiences laugh at medoicre things and pretend they're funny". He also introduced his son (Dave?), who helps out with the audience. Then Steve introduced the actors playing the major characters in the episode. We got to see Bonnie tonight! That was a sign that it would be a "big" episode.

The scenes we saw taped were the lobby wrap arounds (the plot parts), the advice segement, the Possum Lodge word game and the Lodge meeting. The Handyman segements and adventures segements are taped earlier. Steve Smith says they did it back in April. However, the laugh track for these segements is provided by the auidence when the clips are played on the monitors.

Steve and his son interacted a fair bit with the auidence. Steve had a quick Q&A session and answered questions about the series. Dave told us a story about when they were filming an Adventures segement. Apparently, Rick Green was suppose jumped down onto a teeter totter and Steve thought it would be funny to watch if Rick killed himself. Steve was standing too close and the teeter totter smacked him in the face, breaking his nose. As Dave explained, they would have sent for help, but they were too busy laughing at how goofy the accident was. We also got to see a brief clip lookback at the 15 years of the series and got to learn the proper Possum Lodge pledge together.

There were some giveaways too. I was so close to winning a script for the trivia challenge. I knew the answer offhand, but the guy who was chosen took, like, 5 minutes to answer. Jen was waving my hand and saying "She already knows! Pick her!"

The taping itself lasted until around 10. On the way out everyone got a print of a cast photo for season 15, with Steve Smith, Pat McKenna, Bob Bainborough, Wayne Robson and Jeff Lumby. Lisa and I laughed at Bob Bainborough's signature on it, because it looked like "Dalton's" signature has a little happy face at the end, which is so totally out of character for Dalton. XD
