Okay, I've known this for a while, but today I frightened the chicks working at the drop and add.

Lady at the Drop/Add desk: So you want another English class to make a full 30 credits?

Me: Yep.

Lady: And you're currently taking 3 English, 3 Multimedia, 2 Communication Studies and a Film course?

Me: Yep

Lady: ...

Me: Is something wrong? Did I max out my allowed English credits?

Lady: ...

Me: Uh?

Lady: ...No, that's not the problem...

Me: Then what is?

Lady: Well, we don't usually see people so sure of themselves and what they want to study until at least second year, sometimes even third. To see a first year student so certain of a chosen field of study when they've just started university is highly unusual.

Me: I'm not normal.

Lady (looking over timetable and me again): I can tell.

Turns out most first years pick a mixed bag of credits. When second year comes around, they then chose two or three courses to focus on. The thing is that I did that in high school. I studied a huge range of courses, giving me the oddest timetable in the school. My plan was to figure out exactly what I enjoy doing and pick my post-secondary education from there. Because I know my limits, I can have fun. I have a plan to get a combo BA in Multimedia and Communication Studies with a minior in English. Now while everyone is lost, I have a plan.

It impresses people, but scares the crap outta them too. I don't know why. Any ideas?
