Jul. 7th, 2005 02:30 pmThis is a lovely mess to wake up to.
You know what? I'm deeply troubled by the whole thing. Not only for the families of those who have died or gotten hurt... but...
BLOWING UP PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEMS MAKES NO SENSE
...especially if the rumours are true that it was Al Quaeda. It's seriously messed up.
Let's see look at the big picture:
Al Quaeda wants the West out of the middle East... well, partly.
The West is in the Middle East for oil.
Public Transit takes pressure off of the demand for oil, since people aren't using their cars.
Blowing up a transit system cripples it.
Without public transit, people are forced to drive cars.
More cars mean more demand for oil.
More demand for oil means more pressure for the West to move into the Middle East.
It's not THAT hard to figure out something is very wrong here. I hate short sightedness.
