Strange foods and bad movies.

teddogMy taste is changing. I can't stand bland foods at all. They have to be in an extreme - either spicy or sweet or salty. First person to make a joke about the last one gets it. This was probably from having too much bland goo at the caf this semester.
Amanda, her friend Alex and I went to out to Mori Mori, which is a Japanese restaurant out in Stoney Creek. They now offer these bento box meals (I don't recall them before, but I was last there in 2003). I got the shrimp bento, which included shrimp teriyaki, inari (YAAAAY!!!), cucumber roll, california roll, this strange salad... and big chunks of cold, probably raw, tuna with ginger. The fact I ate the tuna still freaks me a little out. For dessert we also had sweet bean and ginger ice cream. Ginger ice cream is very smooth with a nice little kick and the sweet bean ice cream was pretty awesome, despite the odd texture.
Afterwards, we zipped up to the local drive in, which I had been to since I was... 8, but I should have warned them in advance about what it looked like. I dunno. It doesn't bother me and it feels more "real" than some shiney place like the highway 5 drive in. Anywho, the place was DEAD, since it's still pretty chilly at night and since it's a school night and all. We saw Robots, which I still think is a cute, if nutty and random film, and House of Wax, which was one heck of a stinker. Ewwww.
It says something about a movie when you're able to guess most of the plot points long before they happen. However, Amanda says I've seen too many z-grade horror movies. Such is the result when one of your fandoms rips them apart, another includes them as part of a look at the wide range of media and yet another is an all out spoof of the genre.
Why in heaven's name do we need a remake of House of Wax? Really... we had the Vincent Price version in 1953, which itself was a remake of a much earlier 1933 film, "Mystery of the Wax Museum". THIS is why we need late night movie programs... so lame-ass remakes don't happen because there is access to the old stuff. Gosh, it's as dull and boring as hearing a cheap cover of your favorite song.
